Hypotheticals with Simon Tupman

Looking for something a little different? Introducing a unique double act from Australia's masters of management and mimickry

Alan Patching & Simon Tupman

Between them, Alan and Simon have vast experience of business-and presenting at conferences. After literally thousands of corporate presentations around the globe, both understand what conference organisers need and what sends audiences away happy. Alan and Simon have now teamed up to add a unique style, unpredictability and humour to any business conference.

Built around the hypothetical scenario, our double act sees Alan bring his consummate experience as a facilitator and presenter to introduce a debate with a panel of your selected experts. However, one of those 'experts' is not as expert as Alan would have the audience believe! Whether he be introduced as takeover strategist Helmet Merger, Austrian-born media relations expert Dr. Kurt Manher or the mad Scottish doctor and nutritionalist (and author of the bestseller Fast Food for Fitness!) Dr. Peter McDonald, or any number of other entirely fictitious characters, Simon Tupman will test the audience's credibility before the laughter destroys all of his character's credibility.

Who are Alan and Simon?

Alan Patching is an internationally recognised expert in project management, and one of Australia's most in-demand international presenters on motivation, marketing, sales, leadership, management and negotiation. Perhaps best known as the CEO of the owning entity of Sydney's Olympic Stadium, he is a highly-regarded business author, his leadership and management expertise reflected in The Futureproof Corporation, written in collaboration with Dr. Denis Waitley of the USA. Alan is an adjunct professor at the University of Technology Sydney, and is Executive Chairman of the Asia Pacific operations of giant US corporate education organisation Management Concepts.

Alan has also studied the writing and delivery of humour at The Actors' Centre in Sydney.

Simon Tupman is a former lawyer turned expert in law firm management, marketing and motivation. On the technical level he brings broad exposure to the corporate world in several different countries and a great wealth of experience in dealing with corporate issues to is presentations. But there's another facet to Simon Tupman. He's also a uniquely gifted mimic with an ability to create characters with accents from a range of countries, notably the UK, USA, Holland, France, Germany and South Africa. His characters don't rely on accent and mimicry skills alone for their realism, Simon breathes credibility and life into them by drawing on that great wealth of corporate experience.

Known for his vocal impersonations of celebrities and famous people including Prince Charles, Dame Edna, Billy Connelly and Sean Connery, Simon also has the incredible ability to create a character just perfect for the hypothetical you might be considering. Even if you have not been considering a hypothetical at your conference, it would be worth thinking about one just to see Simon in action. When Simon blends his unique legal, corporate and presentation background with his amazing creativity, the result is inevitably highly credible characters who will not only fool your audience but will also have them in stitches!

The hypothetical approach

Alan and Simon thrive on spontaneity and flexibility. Whether you require a definitive hypothetical session to broaden thinking and attitudes within your organisation, or simply to use out-of-left-field hypothetical scenarios to foster more serious discussion on important matters, they will happily design a session approach to suit your specific needs. Perhaps unusual for people with such a depth of cutting edge and high profile business experience, both are excellent humour writers, so you can be sure things will never get any more serious than you want them to be.

Client comment on their performance?

What a great after lunch session. These guys are very smart business people, and very quick wits. The audience was not sure how to take Dr Kurt Manher right up to the end.

When you work with Alan and Simon you understand why their hypothetical sessions are so good. They put everything into the writing and preparation, and even more into the session itself. They absolutely love what they do, and it shows…that factor in itself was more than worth the investment.
